Ambulances to get police escort

NATIONAL NEWS - Criminal attacks on state ambulances came under the spotlight yesterday in a meeting between police and Emergency Medical Services management.

In the latest incident earlier this month, two ambulance personnel were robbed of their wallets and other personal belongings by six men while attending to a patient in New Brighton.

Police spokesperson, Constable Mncedi Mbombo, says the parties agreed to hold public meetings and awareness campaigns in the area.

Mbombo said until further notice, ambulances will get a police escort when entering the area.
