PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Plett is now home to a mobile Covid-19 test service aimed at serving the hospitality industry and local business.
"We have received notice from several of our hospitality products, notably the five-star establishments, that international tour operators and travel professionals may soon require PCR and/or Antigen tests prior to guests leaving for their next South African destination," Plett Tourism chief executive Patty Butterworth said.
"In preparation for this, Plett Tourism investigated the opportunity to formalise a mobile Covid-19 testing service that can be used locally and possibly in other areas of the Garden Route."
After contacting the Nurse2U franchisee in Port Elizabeth, Butterworth realised that a local business that specialises in the medical field and one that has qualified nurses will be essential.
"An introduction between Nurse2U and the local Plett Home Care business made sense, and this introduction soon turned into a formal service agreement between the franchisee and the business owner. We think this will provide peace of mind for the international trade and the local hospitality industry. We have taken this step to ensure the safety of our future guests."
She said the hospitality industry should remain vigilant in the face of this surge. "Although travel is slowly opening, towns that have quick and efficient Covid-19 testing will hopefully see a steady recovery in the industry."
The Nurse2U service includes rapid Covid-19 PCR tests and other viral tests, with a minimum 15 to 30 minute result in the privacy of the business premises or home. In addition to servicing the hospitality industry, the Plett Nurse2U will also be available for on-site business and event testing.
