The R5 000 donated by the Eden Municipality will help the Pledge Nature Reserve to get the recognition it so deserves, said the CEO of Knysna Tourism, Greg Vogt, who said this money would be spent on the recently assembled new gate system.
Since its inception, Knysna Tourism has sung the praises of the reserve.
It must also be for a good reason that TripAdvisor gives the reserve four-and-a-half stars with rave reviews, among other Garden Route must-do experiences. The only negative comment is a warning about mosquitoes.
Mervyn Crous, manager of the Pledge Nature Reserve, said he was happy to receive any help at all since the reserve "struggled financially".
He explained that there are two entry gates into the reserve and the donation from Eden District Municipality would be used to facilitate an electronic gate at the Oyster Walk entrance.
