SEDGEFIELD NEWS - The Masithandane team have made their mark with mosaic projects in Sedgefield, and they are at it again.
At the site of the Octopus Garden Under the Sea (adjacent to the Scarab Market), the latest addition to the stable, a full-size orca, is in the process of being created.
Once completed, it will join the octopus, which has tentacles used for seating for outdoor movie nights, to raise funds for the organisation, and the colourful dolphin leaping through the air, together with a range of other, smaller creations.
Masithandane was registered as an NPO in 2006 and is described as a Christian-based organisation providing services where they are needed most, in the previously disadvantaged and isolated communities in the greater Sedgefield area.
Funds raised assist in the provision of home-based care and wellness centre services, community care for vulnerable children, support groups for mothers and children, promoting food security, early childhood development and literacy programmes, and education and training for life skills, employment and income generation.
The Masithandane volunteer team hard at work on Saturday 2 September, on the orca that is joining the mosaic marine garden in Sedgefield.
Residents and visitors who are in the area are encouraged to visit and support this community-based initiative.
