KNYSNA NEWS – Two Oakhill matric pupils recently received their certificates for concluding specific levels of the President's Award for the Youth Empowerment Programme.
Jodie Matter completed the Bronze Level, while Jemma Ronaldson achieved the Silver Level. Two past matriculants, Nicholas Hill and Shannon Amoils, also received the Silver Level in 2020.
The President's Award Programme is one of the most inclusive youth development programmes in South Africa, enabling young people to participate and collaborate in varied activities as they work towards completing bronze, silver and gold levels.
The four components - sport, community service, an expedition and skills/interests - are designed to provide a balanced experience.
The programme is affiliated to the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, and at completion, pupils receive an internationally recognised certificate that bears the signatures of His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, and President Cyril Ramaphosa.
