PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Three women who went for an early morning swim were allegedly pestered by a naked man on Sunday 30 October.
Lisa Nagel of Plett.Watch, Plett's local neighbourhood watch group, said the three women had gone for a swim in the lagoon at Poortjies at about 06:00 when a naked man started following them.
He then allegedly proceeded to masturbate in front of them and spewed lewd comments at them.
Nagel said passers-by contacted police who responded, arrested the man and took witness statements.
A case was opened and the suspect is expected to appear in the Plettenberg Bay Magistrate's Court on a variety of charges including public indecency.
"This serves as a reminder to all women using the beaches and the lagoon, to be vigilant when walking or swimming, and if possible, not to go alone, especially at times when there are not many [other] people around," Nagel said.
If anyone feels threatened or unsafe, she said they should immediately leave the area and look for help at the nearest house if necessary.
"This incident was very unpleasant for the women concerned, but could have been a lot worse if they didn't take action."
By the time of going to print, police were yet to confirm whether the suspect had appeared in court.
