KNYSNA NEWS - A 32-year-old man was arrested on a charge of dealing in drugs, in Alemein Street, Hornlee, Knysna, on Tuesday 28 January.
According to Sergeant Chris Spies, police spokesman for the Southern Cape, reports available suggested that members of the Knysna Crime Prevention Unit and the Garden Route District Crime Combating Team, armed with a search warrant, conducted a "targeted operation" at the premises.
During a search of the premises, "10 bankies of tik, 59 Mandrax tablets and 33 bankies of dagga" were allegedly found. Spies said the drugs were confiscated.
'Complaints'
"The occupant was subsequently arrested on a charge of dealing in drugs. This operation was conducted following complaints about unlawful activities at the premises from the public," he said.
"Substance abuse remains one of the major contributors to serious and violent crimes as well as gender-based violence and femicide in this area."
Knysna Police Station management commended the public for reporting crime to the police.
They gave an assurance that operations will be conducted in an effort to rid communities of drugs.
