KNYSNA NEWS - Three Knysna filmmakers are working on an educational show that will inform people about Knysna's rich history.
Ivandre Kangela, Bonginkosi Ndima and Kaunda Mabuya made a proposal to the SABC, which was accepted with the promise to provide 25% of the budget for making the show.
Speaking to KPH Kangela said they are currently working on an educational show and Knysna with its rich history and scenic background would be a perfect backdrop for shooting the show.
"Most South Africans are still not exposed to such beauty. We will use the TV show to showcase what our beautiful town has to offer. Hopefully in turn this will drive more tourism activities and also boost the economy of the town.
If this goes well we will also be creating job opportunities for some of the locals who will assist in our production," he said.
Receiving 25% of the budget is a great start, but they have to find sponsors to cover the rest.
"This project will create a lot of job opportunities for Knysna. We will need DJs, singers, music directors, presenters and many more. This production is also in collaboration with BN Foundation (an NPO created to bring awareness around depression and anxiety, for men who suffer from mental health issues), Black & White Productions, and S.H.E," Kangela said.
As an SABC graduate who has been in the media and entertainment industry for four years, Kangela believes his experience will help to make the show a success.
"I have worked on television productions such as Binnelanders, 7de Laan, Generations The Legacy, Still Breathing, Tydelik Terminaal, Isibaya, Ukphandelo and U'Thando. I have done more than 20 commercials locally and internationally," he said.
