KNYSNA NEWS - In the final run down to the annual Knysna Literary Festival, you still have a chance to grab a place at most of the talks and events set to happen this coming weekend.
The Knysna Literary Festival was held for the first time in 2020 and has over the years grown significantly to the point where it has become a highlight on any and every local bookworm’s calendar.
This year the festival is set to take place this coming weekend, with a total of 11 events lined up on this year’s bill, of which tickets are still available for nine.
The festival is set to kick off tomorrow morning at the Premier Resort Hotel The Moorings at 09:00 with a thrilling talk from former minister Ronnie Kasrils as he takes the audience on a ride through his childhood and what made him give up privilege to take up arms, join the liberation struggle and spend 27 years in exile fighting the Apartheid government.
The next highlight of the weekend will be a talk by Adriaan Basson, Qaanitah Hunter, and Pieter du Toit about the current political and socio-economic climate.
From there, focus will shift to a double slot for Mandy Weiner and Pieter du Toit (the first slot at 15:00 is the only one where tickets are still available) wherein they will discuss Stellenbosch’s “club of billionaires”.
Mandy Weiner will then reappear again on Sunday at 09:00 for chat with author Mandla Langa, who using Nelson Mandela’s unfinished draft documented the story of Mandela’s presidential years.
Note that the Stellenbosch Mafia talk at 18:00 on Friday and the Chef’s Playdate event on Sunday at 13:00 are both sold out, but tickets are available for the rest.
