KNYSNA NEWS - Amidst the ongoing issues the town has been experiencing with service delivery, the Knysna Municipality has managed to remove the accumulating mountain of waste at the Waste Transfer Station.
The community has been dealing with a backlog in rubbish pickup throughout the holidays, causing great concern for residents and holiday makers alike.
The backlog of waste removal was the result of a brief outage of service at the waste transfer facility.
Municipal manager, Ombali Sebola reports that after this past week's repairs, the mechanical issues with the transfer station have been resolved.
“The facility was temporarily out of service for four days. Two hook lift trucks are currently in operation, transporting waste to PetrsoSA, while waste outside the facility is being loaded into open-top containers.” says Sebola.
