Mayoral Committee member and Community Services Chairperson, Councillor Shakespeare Arends, said “Libraries today are more than for books or research. Libraries are many things to many people; our municipal libraries work with many stakeholders such as students, small business owners, associations and the general public.
"Our libraries have grown and evolved in how they provide for the needs of our community with access to its Media Centre's public computers and internet, Business corners, the Cape Access centre, just to name a few.
"Whatever your need or interest Greater Knysna libraries are at the heart of it all.”

National Library Week is celebrated by libraries nationally each year as part of promoting library services as well as literacy and the benefits of reading.
The week falls within the 20th of March and on this day in 1818 the South African Public Library was established in Cape Town which is now known as the National Library of South Africa.
This particular week coincides with Human Rights Day on 21 March and freedom of access to information is embedded in our Bill of Rights.
