KNYSNA NEWS - The municipal building in Karatara, where residents buy electricity and pay their rates, among others, was closed on Friday, 7 February, the Knysna-Plett Herald was told.
A resident said she had been informed that it had been closed due to the carrying out of an investigation into the running of the facility.
Responding to a query, the municipality said on Monday, 10 February: "The municipality has implemented alternative operational measures to ensure continued service delivery.
'Extended hours'
"While the finance office is impacted, all other municipal services remain fully operational.
"To accommodate the public, the office will be open two days per week, with extended hours, for example, during pension-pay days, to meet community needs.
"As a matter of policy, the municipality does not comment on personnel or labour-related matters in the media."
