PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS – Bitou Municipality is offering students a helping hand to relieve the financial burden of further studies.
The municipality has opened the application process for obtaining financial assistance for further studies for 2023 and has invited learners who have passed matric and are currently obtaining a qualification in various fields, to apply for it.
The fields include finance, economics, accounting, supply chain management, internal auditing, risk management, infrastructure and more.
Bitou Municipal Manager Mbulelo Memani said the assistance is restricted to full-time undergraduate or postgraduate students at a South African Qualifications Authority accredited tertiary or Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution and is aimed at students whose parents reside within Bitou.
Bursary applications have to be done in writing on the prescribed application form and have to be accompanied by various documents.
These include matric results, proof of registration at a university or TVET college, the applicant's latest examination results, a certified copy of their identity document, proof of parents' combined income supported by an affidavit, and proof of residential address.
"Failure to attach the abovementioned documents in your application will result in disqualification," Memani said. Application forms are available at the municipality, at all municipal libraries and the municipal website.

Application forms, accompanied by a cover letter and original copies of the documents, must be hand-delivered or posted to Bitou Local Municipality, Training & Development Section, Private Bag X 1002, Plettenberg Bay, 6600.
Should candidates not be contacted within two months of the closing date, they may accept that their application was unsuccessful. Students have until 12:00 on 19 May.
