GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The late Garden Route fire chief, Freddy Thaver, who passed away on Thursday July due to Covid-19, was laid him to rest in Durban on Sunday.
His funeral was broadcast on Facebook.
During the emotionally charged proceedings, Thaver's children each paid a touching tribute to their father.
They said they would always remember their dad for his love for his family. He did everything in his power to make them happy and was an inspirational man with strong leadership qualities whose ideals they will always uphold. He was involved in every aspect of their lives.
Family members described Thaver as an energetic person with a magnetic personality who enjoyed every moment of his life.
The Garden Route District Municipality is hosting a memorial service today, Thursday 8 July, at 10:00 in the council chambers.
