Garden Route Wildfires Update

GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS - In a statement issued by the Garden Route District Municipality, on 21 January, there are currently wildfires active in the Garden Route.

Two (2) wildfires are still attended to.

Molenrivier, Louvain

The wildfire is contained. Final mopping up is being performed currently. No structures were damaged or lost.

2. Rooiberg Mountain Fire

This wildfire has an active line moving northwest of Baileys Peak to the southwest of Zoar. Ground crews are currently attempting to gain access to the fireline in an attempt to suppress active areas.

Garden Route District Municipality's (GRDM) Kannaland responders have confirmed that infrastructure to the northwest is not under any threat at this stage.

Role players include GRDM Fire Services, CapeNature, Working on Fire, Southern Cape Fire Protection Association and relevant landowners.
