KNYSNA NEWS - In a powerful demonstration of support for local enterprise development, 21 small, medium, and micro enterprises (SMMEs) in Knysna have received a much-needed boost aimed at accelerating their business growth.
Through a strategic partnership between Knysna Municipality and the Small Enterprise Development Finance Agency (SEDFA), these entrepreneurs were provided with tools and equipment tailored to enhance their operation and competitiveness.
The handover took place on Wednesday 8 October.
According to a media statement issued by Knysna Municipality, the support does not stop at equipment. "These businesses also benefit from essential training in areas like financial management, marketing and branding, helping them build a solid foundation for long-term success."
In addition to equipment support, beneficiaries of the programme are enrolled in a comprehensive development programme - these modules are designed to equip entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills needed to run sustainable, profitable businesses.
Driving inclusive growth
The statement said that, by integrating these SMMEs into the formal economy and providing ongoing support, the programme plays a crucial role in promoting inclusive economic participation. It reflects the municipality’s commitment to creating a thriving, diverse, and resilient local economy.
Looking ahead, the municipality is preparing for the next intake of participants for the 2025/26 SMME Support Programme, continuing its mission to unlock economic potential at the grassroots level.
