KNYSNA NEWS - One person was killed and one injured in a vehicle accident in Sonqayi Street, Dam se Bos on Sunday 16 April.
One of the victims, Nandy Sonqayi, says she was walking with Zuzeka Masawe in the road near the Chris Hani hall when the accident occurred.
"I was coming from the shop and she was coming from work. We were chatting along the way. At that time a truck came at high speed from the corner. When I was about to tell her we must run, she had already turned and run, and as she was running she fell. That's when the truck came and hit us."
Sonqayi says she only sustained a few injuries to her knee. According to a statement by Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies, Knysna police opened a culpable homicide docket following the death of Zuzeka Masawe (43).
"Information available suggests that police were dispatched to an accident scene at Sonqayi Street, Dam se Bos at about 11:30 on 16 April where two pedestrians were hit by a vehicle. The 43-year-old woman sustained multiple injuries and was taken to hospital where she died later. No arrests have been made yet. . . Investigation into this matter continues."
