Rural Flying Squad members were not only busy curbing crime in Knysna, but also in George, where they arrested two suspects after copper cables were found in their possession.
"On Thursday 28 April, the members conducted vehicle patrols along the N2 highway near the turnoff to Victoria Bay outside George when they spotted two men acting suspiciously," Spies explained.
"The vigilant members approached the men and found 23,1kg of copper cables in their possession." The suspects were unable to account for the cable.
"Police confiscated the items and arrested both suspects, aged 33 and 34, on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property each. The pair is expected to appear in the George Magistrate's Court once charged."
The police management of the Western Cape lauded the members for their efforts in curbing the trafficking of stolen goods on the highways of this province.
