KNYSNA NEWS - A statement today, Tuesday 20 May, Knysna Municipality confirmed the pump at Charlesford has been successfully installed and is now operational.
With this development, two pumps are currently running - an important step toward stabilising the water supply system.
"However, we are not yet out of the woods,' the statement reads. "The system still requires careful testing for pressure, airlocks and other variables to avoid unnecessary damage or future disruptions. We ask all residents who currently have access to water to please continue using it sparingly. Every drop saved supports the broader recovery effort.
"Water tankers will continue to serve zones that remain without water. The schedule and roaming plan remain in effect to ensure the most urgent areas are prioritised."
Rheenendal update
According to the statement, a water tanker will continue to fill the reservoir at the treatment plant to support the balance in the system.
"While supply to the area has improved, we strongly urge all Rheenendal residents to reduce consumption to allow reservoir levels to build up and stabilise."
General
The municipality cautioned that both the Knysna and Rheenendal systems remain under pressure.
"Continued co-operation and responsible water use from all residents are essential. We extend our sincere thanks to the dedicated teams, contractors, emergency services, stakeholders and inter-governmental partners who are working tirelessly under pressure. Your commitment is making a difference."
