KNYSNA NEWS - At just eight years old, Aurora Burland, a learner at Knysna Primary School, is already making waves in the world of dance and gymnastics.
A few months ago, she represented the Western Cape at the South African Championships of Performing Arts (Sacopa) in Rustenburg where she raked in two gold, seven silver and one bronze medal.
This achievement led to her selection for the South African team to compete at the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Los Angeles in July, where she will perform alongside competitors from 30 countries.
Where did it begin?
Her journey began at the age of four when she first tried ballet, but it was when she discovered Hip Hop at Uné's Dance Studio that her love for dancing truly ignited.
At her youthful age, she has already explored a wide range of dance styles, including modern, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, acro and tap.
Gymnastics
Aurora is also a dedicated gymnast at Performance Gymnastics Club, where she has been training since the age of five.
She has recently placed second overall in the Western Cape Gymnastics Championships and is preparing for competitions in April.
BackaBuddy
To cover expenses, her family has organised an upcoming Magic Show on 30 and 31 May at Knysna Primary School and they are also planning community quiz nights.
To further support her trip, a BackaBuddy account has been set up for those who wish to contribute.
For more information, contact her parents, Russel and Magda, on 082 961 8556 or 072 301 7821.
