KNYSNA NEWS - Voters are up and about early this morning, with some Ward 9 residents familiarising themselves with the new voting station at Loerie Park.
The Loerie Park clubhouse is one of three new voting stations in Knysna this year, and is one of two in Ward 9. The DA retained Ward 9 during one of two by-elections held last year, but will be facing strong opposition from the Knysna Independent Movement, that is competing in its first local government elections.
One resident, Mel Miller, hopes to see change within council. "We definitely need change. One can see the failures of the past council in the form of the wheelie bins. It's not just about talking, it's about doing." (A large number of wheelie bins bought by the municipality, but not fully distributed, has been one of the issues that came in the spotlight during pre-election campaigning.)
Voting stations opened at 07:00 and are open to voters up to 21:00 tonight.
You can check your registration status and confirm your voting station online, at https://www.elections.org.za/pw/#.
