George van Heerden and his troops secured a five-wicket victory against the dangerous Mpumalanga Rhinos at the REC Cricket Stadium in Oudtshoorn on Saturday.
The Rhinos, who were put in to bat, was put under pressure by a fine bowling and fielding display and reached a below-par 124/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
Herman Rolfes top-scored with 42 (41 balls), with Liam Alder (3/26 in 4 overs) leading the Badgers' bowling effort together with Kyle Jacobs (1/11 in 3 overs), who was equally impressive.
The Badgers' run chase was solid, but they unfortunately missed the bonus-point victory by one ball, surpassing the target (128/5 in 16.1 overs).
Yaseen Valli (20 from 9 balls; 1x6, 3x4), Ruan Terblanche (27 from 28 balls; 2x6, 1x4), Heath Richards (19 from 17 balls; 1x6, 1x4), and Nathan Engelbrecht (28 from 23 balls; 4x4) all contributed with the bat.
For the Rhinos, their veteran, Aubrey Swanepoel, bagged 2/14.
