KNYSNA NEWS AND VIDEO - A fire is currently burning in the Khayalethu e Dameni informal settlement, Knysna. The cause of the blaze is unknown and it is not yet clear how many homes are affected. 

Emergency services are reportedly on the scene, but it is unclear whether the fire has been contained. 

Meanwhile, the Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM) Wildfire Unit has issued a notice of an out-of-control wildfire in the proximity of Bongani and Concordia.

The Knysna Municipality has requested assistance from the GRDM Fire and Rescue Service, and a GRDM firefighting crew is currently en route to Knysna.

It remains uncertain whether the wildfire is related to the house fire in Khayalethu.

Residents are urged to stay clear of affected areas and remain vigilant.
