KNYSNA NEWS - What better way to conclude the esteemed Knysna Oyster Festival than a Green Carpet Fashion extravaganza lifting a veil on some of the best-kept secrets in Knysna – the town's upcoming designers.
Afrcentric was the theme of the day with a touch of denim and white. Over a hundred locals showed up at Vinyl in Main Street for a treat of cocktail entertainment and world-class couture by our very own designers.
Showcasing African regalia ranging from men’s and women’s wear and accessories, models took to the runway displaying these works of brilliance.
Born and bred in Knysna event manager Vuvu Ralushe has hosted a few shows in the past, and said his event is aimed at showcasing locals ranging from designers, models, even township DJs – and giving people from the northern areas an opportunity to also be part of the festival.

He said the Green Carpet event is a fashion show linked to nature, inspired by Knysna because the town is green.
“One of the reasons why I wanted this show was because I wanted people from the townships to feel special, roll out a carpet for them and give them a reason to dress up and show up,” said Ralushe.

Designers who showcased their works were Mveleli Bambiso of M creations, Lwa designs by Lwanele Bambe and Linda Mdatyulwa’s accessories.
The turnout left Ralushe speechless. “Words fail me, I don’t even know where to begin… People from as far away as Mossel Bay came through to show their support. I am deeply humbled. Nangomso.”
Soon after the show concluded, the dance floor was opened and DJs like DJ Abo, 24 Tones, Jerry, LK Citizens and more were on the decks.
