Though one may be fooled into thinking this explosive situation has been resolved, this is sadly not the case.
Residents of Qolweni, under the auspices of the Qolweni/Bossiesgif Community Forum (QF), have agreed to cease all protest action until midday on Friday, February 17 in order to give Executive Mayor Memory Booysen an opportunity to respond to their grievances.
Negotiations took place on Friday, February 10, facilitated by Hardy Mills, which resulted in this agreement being formalised as a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between QF, The Justice and Equality Front (www.justiceandequality.co.za) and Mills and Lombard Attorneys. The MOU was signed by all parties on Saturday, February 11.
