Stefanie Seydack, well known in Knysna for her beautiful roses, not only won prizes for the two Princesses (second and third), but was also awarded a prize for achieving the most points at the show. Hugh Collier (chairman of the KRS), Jan Shilton, Hilary Blowe (known for her miniature roses), Margaret Macdonald and Miene Skarba were all KRS exhibitors.
It was interesting to note the miniature section attracted 60 entries, reinforcing the versatility of roses in small pots that can be moved to the warmer parts of the garden in winter and spring.
Workshops
The rose care workshops which took place at Bosky Dell on August 18 and 25, drew a good crowd of rose lovers who wanted to learn how to care for their roses at this time of the year. Rae Gilbert shared her in-depth knowledge and was able to show visitors and members examples of what to expect in their own gardens.
