According to crime reports, Crags resident Joy Burns and a friend were brutally assaulted by a gun-wielding man and four accomplices while drinking tea on her porch at about 23:30 on April 23.
Fred Oelschig of the Crags Support Group said Burns and a friend who accompanied her home to ensure her safety had just returned home from a social visit at Rocky Road in Loredo South when a man stormed onto the porch and pointed a firearm at her head.
Another four men appeared and severely assaulted both Burns and her friend before ransacking the house and fleeing the scene with several household items.
Burns managed to call for help and local crime-fighters responded within minutes.
