GEORGE NEWS - Police are asking for information about a suspect accused of an armed robbery in Thembalethu more than nine years ago, who has managed to evade the law after he failed to appear for his bail application.
According to Thembalethu police communications officer, Capt Dumile Gwavu, the 32-year-old Luzuko Lungawe and an accomplice allegedly robbed a liquor store of thousands of rands’ worth of alcohol as well as airtime, cellphones and about R2 000 in cash.
“Lungawe was arrested two years later and appeared in court in March 2014 where he was granted bail of R1 000. He was never seen again and a warrant of arrest was subsequently issued by the George Magistrate’s Court,” said Gwavu.
He says police have two addresses for Lungawe in Nelson Mandela Bay - one in Bethelsdorp and one in Kwazekhele.
Anyone with information of his whereabouts can contact Capt Freddy Muller of the Thembalethu detective branch on 044 802 8953.
