KNYSNA NEWS - No, it's not a joke. On Saturday 1 April the SANParks Honorary Rangers in the Knysna Region will be holding a special "Serenade in the Forest" to raise funds for SANParks.
The Honorary Rangers is the official fundraising arm of SANParks, and hosts numerous events throughout the year to raise funds for the organisation that is the custodian of all national parks throughout South Africa.
This of course includes the Garden Route National Park, which consists of the Wilderness, Knysna Lakes and Tsitsikamma sections.
It is in the Knysna Lakes section that the Knysna Region SANParks Honorary Rangers conducts its fundraising operations. These include its flagship fundraiser, the SANParks Honorary Rangers Golf Day at Pezula Championship Course, which has been held with much success in 2021 and 2022.
But, while the joint golf and nature enthusiasts await the golf day they can attend a special night of music and the arts on 1 April.
This is one event that should not be missed. Beneath the towering yellowwoods of the Knysna forests the musical abilities of Pierre van der Westhuizen (tenor), Marike Laranjeira (soprano), Throy Petersen (cello), Stephan Conradie (violin) and Jaco Kriek (saxophone) will bring the forest to life. It will be held around the King Edward VII Big Tree at Diepwalle.
The special occasion is scheduled to begin at 16:00 and end at 18:30. It is compulsory that attendees use the transport that will be provided, as organisers don't want members of the public driving their vehicles through the forests to Diepwalle.
The shuttle/s will depart from Loerie Park at 15:30 and will return after the event. Cover will also be provided at the tree in the event of rain.
Tickets are available from Quicket and for more information you can contact Sabine Schukai, chairperson of the SANParks Honorary Rangers in the Knysna Region, at knysna.chair@honoraryrangers.org.
