Since its re-establishment last year, KRA members have had, and continue to have, public meetings with different role players and stakeholders, as well as representatives of the Knysna Municipality. Two of their most recent meetings have been with Knysna's executive mayor, Georlene Wolmarans on Thursday, March 13, and a previous meeting with Knysna Municipality Financial Director, Grant Easton at the Knysna Bowling Club.
Some of the topics on the agenda with the mayor were the procurement of expensive Nissan Juke vehicles for the traffic department; an organogram tender for R450 000 said to have been accepted above the lowest bid; concerns about the long term prognosis of infrastructure (roads and water), as well as wanting to know how much was spend last year on subsistence and travelling allowances for councillors and departmental heads. Each topic will be reported on separately.
"We are not here to attack anyone," KRA's chairperson, Leon Naudé said as they met with Wolmarans. "We are simply asking questions and would like to engage in a healthy relationship of open communication and transparency with the municipality."
