PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The Plett “feeling” is spreading far and wide and popping up in unexpected places.
The latest spot is on Coca-Cola labels.
Plettenberg Bay has been selected by the soft drink giant as one of 75 of the world’s most inviting cities and beaches.
And this is no small mention as other places around the world include the likes of Bali, Ibiza, Miami and Hawaii.
This is part of Coca-Cola’s Share a Coke campaign, which was first launched in 2013 when they selected the UK's most popular names to feature on their soft drink labels to give fans the chance to “share a Coke” with friends and family.
The campaign has grown over the years and this year Coca-Cola decided to give it a “holiday makeover”.
Over the past few months, bottles of Coca-Cola, Coke Zero and Diet Coke have been featuring names of 75 famous cities and exotic beaches on their labels.
Along with this, consumers stand a chance of winning their dream holiday to one of these destinations.
“We are very honoured to have been selected as one of the exotic beaches for this international campaign… To be mentioned alongside other world-class beach destinations is fantastic.
"It shows that we are also considered among the finest beach towns in the world. This is exciting times for Plett,” said Plett Tourism spokesperson Patty Butterworth.
This feather in the town’s cap comes after being awarded Blue Flag status for six of its beaches recently, meaning this small town has the second most Blue Flag beaches in the Western Cape – after Cape Town with its 10 sites.
It also makes Plett the place with the third highest number of Blue Flag sites in the country.
Plett’s Blue Flag beaches for the year are Robberg 5, Keurboomstrand, Natures’ Valley, Lookout, The Dunes and The Singing Kettle beach.
