Update
PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The motion of no confidence brought by the ANC against Bitou mayor Peter Lobese failed during a special council meeting on Tuesday, December 5, 2017.
The motion was brought following among others, major criticism of Bitou mayor Peter Lobese's spending over the past year.
Lobese has come under fire over the past few weeks about several expenses that has been labelled "exorbitant" by the opposition.
This includes more than R100 000 on home security for Lobese as well as the "short-term" rental of a luxury SUV - which cost taxpayers just short of R60 000 a month - following an accident involving the mayor's official vehicle.
ANC sub-regional coordinator Putco Mapitiza said the motion was as a result of a culmination of issues with Lobese's leadership over the past year including his spending habits.
Mapitiza said that very little had also been done under his leadership in terms of service delivery.
