PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Following major criticism of Bitou mayor Peter Lobese's spending over the past year, among others, the local ANC is set to bring a motion of no confidence in the mayor on Tuesday 5 December.
Lobese has come under fire over the past few weeks about several expenses that has been labelled "exorbitant" by the opposition.
This includes more than R100 000 on home security for Lobese as well as the "short-term" rental of a luxury SUV – which cost taxpayers just short of R60 000 a month – following an accident involving the mayor's official vehicle.
ANC subregional coordinator Putco Mapitiza said the motion would be brought during a special council meeting on Tuesday.
He added that this action was as a result of a culmination of issues with Lobese's leadership over the past year including his spending habits.
Mapitiza said that very little had also been done under his leadership in terms of service delivery.
