The construction of the new pharmacy commenced in October last year in an effort to meet the needs of the growing population.
According to Nadia Ferreira, principal communications officer for the Western Cape Health Department's Eden and Central Karoo Districts, the pharmacy staff are thrilled to work in a state-of-the-art, modern and up-to-date pharmacy.
"We have state-of-the-art fridges to ensure that our cold-chain medication is stored in the ideal conditions. We have eight dispensing areas, three dispensing/hand-out windows, one wheelchair friendly dispensing/hand-out window and one ward-dispensing window as well as a beautiful private consulting area," explains pharmacy supervisor, Inge Reynecke.
The pharmacy will be manned by six pharmacists with six assistants as well as two trainee-pharmacist assistants.
"With this group of dedicated staff members we will keep on rendering a good service to our patients," said Reynecke. "We welcome the public and will continue to build on our enthusiasm and drive to meet all our patients' needs!"
