KNYSNA NEWS - During the week of 8 to 12 April, Knysna Primary School held a Maths & Science Week.
On Monday they had a maths problem-solving competition and on Tuesday a mental maths competition wherein learners had to race against time to see how many sums they could do in 60 seconds on the tablets.
On Tuesday afternoon the children enjoyed a Lego challenge. The theme for Grade 1 to 3 learners was to create something to do with transport, and the Grade 4 to 7 pupils could recreate any construction, eg. Eiffel Tower, etc.
On Wednesday it was time for experiments, with the Grade 1 to 3s participating in Experi-Buddies activities, and the Grade 4 to 7s enjoying experiments from Montessori learners as well as robotics (gears and levers) from Young Engineers.
The children who wanted to take part had to invent an experiment that they had to do in front of the "spectators" from the senior classes on Thursday.
For the last challenge on Friday, contestants took part in an Amazing Race. They started off with a clue and from there on they had to decipher the riddles at each point which led them to the finish line.
Congratulations to all the winners and a big thank you to all the teachers who arranged these wonderful events as well as Experi-Buddies, Young Engineers and Montessori.
