KNYSNA NEWS - A 43-year-old man from Happy Valley, Knysna was arrested on 1 October after he allegedly sexually assaulted a resident from the area.

Police spokesperson sergeant Chris Spies confirmed that the family violence, child protection and sexual offences (FCS) unit in George is investigating a case of sexual assault following the incident, which happened at about 16:00 on 1 October.

He said it is alleged that the 29-year-old victim visited a friend when the suspect touched her private parts.

The suspect was arrested but released later that day, which has caused an uproar in the community.

A community member who wishes to remain anonymous said, “We don’t understand how he got released without appearing in court?”

Spies said the investigation into this matter has not been finalised and investigation continues.
