KNYSNA NEWS - The Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival promises to be a bright occasion this year!
On Friday, June 26, Lauren Frates and her creative team completed some of their last decorations - bright, colourful flowers especially arranged for the festival’s main tent at the Festival Pavilion on Waterfront Drive.
Designed by Knysna’s own craftsmen and women of the Hands Design Collective, the team will not only make sure that festival-goers will be welcomed in colourful and creative style, but all the food stalls for one of the main events, Flavours of Knysna, have also been produced by the team, as well as all the branded bunting flags.
The organisation empowers and supports locals in making and distributing their wares at the Hands retail shop at the Woodmill Lane shopping centre in Long Street.
They also have a studio where local seamstresses, street crafters, ceramicists, carvers and weavers get together to make beautiful, handcrafted items to sell to the public as well as national corporates and businesses.
“The studio has also proved to be an ideal space for managing their orders,” said Frates. “Hands is all about heart.
We have a passion for beautiful design and a drive to support local talent by creating a platform for our locals to shine,” said Fates who is one of five co-owners who runs the store, proudly.
