KNYSNA NEWS - The Great Unknown is not just a title of her book, but it is a revelation and a personal experience the Knysna-born author had.
Life was never easy, it came with many trials, challenges and tribulations but this author is a woman with many strengths and talents and she used them as tools to rise above it all, she said.
Ah-Shene Blaauw, a resident of the Hornlee community in Knysna, launched her book entitled The Great Unknown on Friday 8 December. This woman, respectable wife, mother, evangelist and now author is also known as a role model in her community as well as in the broader Western and Eastern Cape.
Blaauw is also known as a motivational speaker and prayer warrior as she opens up herself to connect with many people from all walks of life, different backgrounds and cultures.
Her publisher in Cape Town describes her book as a "soul-stirring and self-help book". Haroldene Tshienda who walked the road of publishing Blaauw's first book said, "It was an honour to read the book because it's easy to read and many people can relate to her stories."
At the launch of her book Ah-Shene welcomed the attendees with red crosses for bringing awareness to the 16 Days of Activism for no violence against women and children. "The reason for that was because the launch happened during this national awareness period and I am an activist in my own right against women and children's rights," she said.
In attendance at the launch were some well-known and respectable community leaders, as well as Speaker of the Knysna municipality Georlene Wolmarans. Members of the AFM church where the launch was hosted supported the launch by entertaining the attendees and encouraging them with song. The lady of the hour also read some excerpts from her book and gave a background on how she became a writer and survived her many challenges. "This book is a must have as it inspires many people who have grown tired and wants to give up sometimes," said Ah-Shene.
The book can be directly purchased from the author or from Tshienda Publications in Cape Town. It is available on Amazon.com should the reader be interested in a Kindle version. For more information contact 078 588 9505.
