PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The swift response of Plettenberg Bay firefighters and volunteers stopped the spread of a fire which gutted a holiday home in Keurbooms on Saturday 28 April.
A timber home on the outskirts of Plett went up in flames on Saturday and several firefighters and volunteers responded to calls for assistance.
According to Plett South Fire Management Unit (FMU) member Steve Ritky, the occupants were not home at the time of the fire.
Several crews responded and immediately started to secure the flanks to prevent any spread of the fire as there were several homes in the vicinity of the burning house. The area surrounding the property is also dense forest area.
Ritky said by the time the perimeter had been secured, there was no chance of saving the timber structure and crews were left with damping down the completely gutted home.
He said there were no injuries and the cause of the fire was still unknown.
