SEDGEFIELD NEWS - More than 200 young people and their parents gathered at Scarab Village on Youth Day for a celebration of ocean heritage and environmental awareness hosted by Ubumamma.
The event featured a full programme of educational and cultural activities, combining marine conservation with dance, art and choral performances to create a memorable day of learning and entertainment.
Environmental organisations including the Sedgefield Island Conservancy, the Strandloper Project and NVT presented a range of marine and terrestrial exhibits and interactive displays.
Participants had the opportunity to learned about local ecosystems, conservation efforts and the importance of protecting the region's natural heritage.
The presentations provided both educational and entertaining experiences, encouraging young people to develop a deeper appreciation for the environment and the role they can play in safeguarding it for future generations.
The organisers said the event brought together families from across the Garden Route and promoted environmental stewardship through engaging and accessible activities. "Much thanks to SANParks for its logistical support and to all the partners who helped make the celebration possible."
