KNYSNA NEWS - The Knysna Education Trust (KET) staged a photo session on 25 February to mark the 2020 graduation of a group of its preschool teachers at The Village Cafe, Waterfront Drive, Knysna.
The women, who are at various levels of their training, were acknowledged for receiving their National Qualifications Framework (NQF) level 4 and 5 qualifications. This is a formal preschool teachers qualification done at the Knysna Education Trust in collaboration with Professional Child Care College.
A confident and well-qualified teacher is at the core of what children learn and retain in the classroom.
The National Integrated Policy for Early Childhood Development, accepted in government in December 2015, stipulates that any person working in a preschool, and teaching young children, must hold a relevant qualification in Early Childhood Development.
2020 presented a unique set of challenges to everyone, but through hands-on support from highly experienced and supportive lecturers, and dedication and hard work from the students, kudos should go to these ladies for their remarkable achievements.

Having overcome great odds, some of the women holding down jobs and running households while still studying for their ECD qualifications, we can be assured of a crop of dedicated and passionate new preschool teachers and know that our little ones will be in very capable hands.
A special thanks goes to local funders and international funders (The Rotary Club Northampton West) that contributed to the bursary fund to help students complete their qualification, and for many, their dream.
