GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - On Tuesday 6 August, an injured badger found roaming around the Rheenendal area was taken to the Knysna Veterinary Clinic after it had suffered a head injury.
The clinic performed x-rays and an ultrasound, and the good news is that he will be recovering at the Tenikwa Rehabilitation Centre near Plettenberg Bay.
It is estimated that his recovery will take up to 9 months where after he will be released in the area from whence he came.
When a caring staff member from Oakhurst Insurance (a proud member of the Badger Group) spotted a social media post that made mention of the distressed honey badger, a call immediately went out to the rest of the company and living up to our moto of We Really Care, We Deliver, our staff personally contributed to this worthy cause.
The honey badger receiving special care from the vet at Knysna Veterinary Clinic.
In no time at all, over R5 000 was collected which will be used to cover his food and medical bills incurred at the vet.
The funds also meant that Oakhurst Insurance became one of Tenikwa Wildlife Rehabilitation and Awareness Centre’s gold level sponsors, making a significant contribution to the further costs needed during his stay.
We wish our furry little friend a speedy recovery.
