According to Howard Swartz communication official at the Bitou Municipality, the bulk of the money allocated recently went to 62 local students who will engage in studies during the 2015 calendar year, amounting to the sum of R341 000, and 12 non-governmental organisations, amounting to R295 000.
The manager in Booysens office, Siphiwe Dladla explained 'that the legislated process which led up to the evening kicked off in August 2014 for grants-in-aid and October 2014 for bursaries. Swartz said Booysen was very emotional when he delivered his keynote address. Booysen emphasised that council will follow-up on the progress of the students studies during the year.
"We want to see all of you here again next year as you progress to your next year of study."
