SEDGEFIELD NEWS AND VIDEO - A large fire erupted in Smutsville this afternoon that has claimed a number of houses.
The fire is believed to have started in the Beverley Hills area of Smutsville, and quickly spread to other areas too.
Reports indicate that roughly 15 houses have already been claimed by the blaze.
The fire danger index in the area was red today, with temperatures exceeding 30°C. Knysna Municipality's communications team has confirmed that its Fire & Rescue Services have responded to the scene and are battling the blaze.
There is no confirmation yet of any injuries caused by the fire.
