KNYSNA NEWS - Safety tip
A number of break-ins are being reported at guesthouses. Please remind visitors not to sleep with open balcony doors and windows and to keep valuables out of sight. Residents in Hunters Home and Rexford areas are advised to keep all windows properly secured to avoid baboon invasions.
PROPERTY CRIMES
TOWN AREA
THEFT - MORTIMER STR (Thurs 19 Jan @ 15h33) - Information received that a suspect grabbed cash from till at business premises. Clothing description was provided. Member of the Business Against Crime NW reported seeing the suspect running below Costa Sarda. Allsound vehicles responded and suspect was apprehended. R600 cash was recovered and suspect was handed over to SAPS.
SHOPLIFTING - MAIN STR (Fri 20 Jan @ 17h15) - Allsound Guard radioed to request assistance after 2 suspects fled a store with stolen items. Clothing description was provided and taxi rank area was searched. Suspects were not found.
THEFT - TIDE STR (Sat 21 Jan @ 07h19) - Resident phoned our Control Room to report that a suspect stole a watch during the night. Suspect stole watch by reaching through burglar bars of open window. Time of incident unknown.
BURGLARY - HEDGE STR (Mon 23 Jan @ 23h57) - Officer responded to alarm signal. On arrival he found suspect inside the garage. Suspect was apprehended and handed over to SAPS.
PARADISE / KNYSNA HEIGHTS / HEUWELKRUIN
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY - KEEROM STR (Thurs 19 Jan @ 04h58) - Panic signal responded to. Owner reported that 2 suspects were on the balcony and tried to force door open. Suspects fled empty handed. No clothing description available.
BURGLARY - LOERIE STR (Thurs 19 Jan @ 05h37) - Owner phoned to report they had a break-in during the night. Entry was gained via an open window, laptop stolen. SAPS were notified.
BURGLARY - DU PREEZ STR (Thurs 19 Jan @ 09h01) - Resident phoned to report they had a break-in during the night, 2 handbags were stolen. Resident declined to open a case.
BURGLARY - CIRCULAR DR (Sat 21 Jan @ 05h48) - Client phoned in to report that they disturbed 3 suspects in the reception area of their guesthouse. Suspect fled when they saw the owner. Nothing appeared to be missing, no case was opened.
OLD PLACE / COSTA SARDA
THEFT OUT M.V - BOKMAKIERIE STR (Thurs 19 Jan @ 08h28) - Business owner phoned to report that a vehicle was broken into outside their premises. The suspect was seen running on George Rex Drive. Allsound Officers searched the area, suspect not found.
INDUSTRIAL AREA / NEKKIES / CONCORDIA
BURGLARY - NEKKIES N2 (Fri 20 Jan @ 10h24) - Client reported that they had a break-in during the night. Suspects broke in through the roof into store and stole approximately 30 bottles of alcohol. No case was opened.
BURGLARY - PROGRESS STR (Sat 21 Jan @ 11h39) - Client telephoned to report a break-in at outside store room. Door was forced open, keyholder unsure if anything was missing. SAPS were notified.
COMMON ROBBERY - HORNLEE N2 (Sun 22 Jan @ 02h18) - Officers responded to panic alarm. It was reported that a lady was robbed of her purse. Clothing description and identity of suspect was provided. SAPS to follow up on investigation.
THEFT - VIGILANCE DR (Wed 25 Jan @ 01h13) - Guard on site requested assistance after 3 unknown men were spotted removing rims from vehicle. Suspect tried to stab the guard before fleeing with 2 rims. SAPS were informed. Area was searched, no arrests made.
FISHER HAVEN / HUNTERS HOME / REXFORD
BURGLARY - VICINITY HOWARD STR (Sat 21 Jan @ 12h57) - Client reported that their home was broken into some time between 09h00 - 12h00 while they were out. Watches, jewellery, other miscellaneous items and their wheelie bin were missing. SAPS followed up on info and recovered the stolen goods and arrested 2 suspects.
THEFT OUT M.V. - LINDSAY STR (Mon 23 Jan @ 09h34) - Client reported that a suspect just stole a cellphone from property. Description was a coloured male wearing a navy shirt. Surrounding area was searched, suspect not found.
