KNYSNA NEWS - The chairman of the Knysna & Partners Board, Philip Hendrickse, this week met with Knysna Elephant Park owner, Lisette Withers, to express the Board of Knysna & Partners’ delight on receiving the announcement from the Director of Public Prosecution that all cruelty charges against the park have been dropped.
The report states, “The mentioned office has decided not to institute any prosecution against any person or party.”
Hendrickse confirmed at the meeting of the board, that whilst Knysna & Partners (formerly Knysna Tourism), had never stopped promoting Knysna Elephant Park, the entity remains a valued member of the organisation, and on behalf of the board, Hendrickse thanked Withers for their valuable contribution to tourism in the area.
The Knysna Elephant Park was founded in 1994 and celebrates its 21st birthday this year. The park was born of the plight of the elephants in the Knysna Forest and tells the story of this plight to the many visitors frequenting the park every day.
