KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna Municipality announced yesterday, Tuesday 16 March, that all cemeteries and gravesites will now be open to visits during certain hours of the day.
Visits were initially prohibited under lockdown regulations in an effort to contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
In a media statement yesterday, the municipality announced the resumption of cemetery visits, and that the ban on the erection or alteration of tombstones has also been lifted.
The maximum number of persons allowed to attend a funeral is 100. The municipality also stated that burials are spaced out to reduce the number of people in graveyards.
At the Knysna Cemetery, the small gate in Vigilance and Marlin Drive will be open.
People may visit gravesites during the below hours:
Monday to Friday: 08:00 to 17: 00
Saturdays - after funerals: 14:00 to 17:00
Sundays: 08:00 to 17:00
Further Covid-19 restrictions and protocols remain in place.
