BITOU | KNYSNA NEWS – Having risen sharply last week, the number of active Covid-19 cases in Bitou has risen slightly this week as new cases tripled in Knysna.
As at Tuesday 25 May, Knysna had recorded a total of 4 866 cases of Covid-19, of which 4 690 have recovered, 157 have died, and 19 are active cases.
This indicates 18 new cases in the seven days between 18 and 25 May, three times what was recorded between 10 and 18 May. While the number of new cases is joint-highest since 10 February, the number of recoveries has risen by 20.
The deaths still stand on 157 for the third week in a row. The active cases have dropped by two, and the recovery rate is now 96,38% with the mortality rate still on 3,2%.
In Bitou matters remain very different as at Tuesday, 2 813 Covid-19 cases had been recorded, with 2 675 having recovered, 100 having died, and 38 being active cases.
This shows a total of 17 new cases recorded between 18 and 25 May, seven less than what was recorded between 10 and 18 May. This is now the highest number of active cases in Bitou since 3 February with last week's number rising by three.
The death tally has thankfully remained the same while the recovery rate is now on 95,09% , dropping for the third consecutive week with the mortality rate on 3,6%.
