KNYSNA NEWS - The Knysna Mall will be hosting a special art exhibition titled Art for Humanity from 13 to 21 March.
The exhibition, which supports the Knysna Initiative for Learning & Teaching (Kilt), will be held in the Dischem atrium. It is set to feature artwork by talented young students from various local schools.
The theme of the exhibition will be human rights, and the participating schools will each present artwork that best represents this important theme.
The art exhibition is a way for the schools to gain exposure for their learners' artistic talents and create awareness of various human rights issues that are important to them.
The exhibition will also be an opportunity for the community to get involved. A silent auction will be hosted during this time, and the audience will be able to bid on artworks in the exhibition.
The primary school and high school with the highest bids will receive prizes sponsored by Dala, PNA and Knysna Mall.
The event promises to be a colourful and educational experience. The Art for Humanity exhibition will be a collaborative event between the community, the Knysna Mall and Kilt.
All funds raised from the exhibition and the silent auction will be donated to Kilt, an organisation that supports local schools in the greater Knysna area.
Kilt aims to encourage creativity among learners, support education, create a fun learning experience, and allow parents and the community to be involved in this event.
The Art for Humanity exhi-bition will display the artwork of learners in all three phases of school: pre-primary, primary, and high school.
The local schools participating in the exhibition are Riverwood Primary, Stepping Stones Primary, Knysna Primary, Fraaisig Primary, Knysna Secondary, Chris Nissen Primary, Knysna High, Hornlee Primary, Sedgefield Primary, Redlands Primary, Montessori Primary, Montessori High, Sunridge Primary and Concordia Primary.
