PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The cooperation between various crime fighters in Plettenberg Bay bore fruit once again when alleged burglars were arrested and stolen goods recovered.
Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association (PBCPA) operations head Otto Olivier said that on 9 January, local police requested assistance in chasing down suspects who had allegedly burgled a home in Julia Avenue.
"The suspects fled in the direction of Bossiesgif," Olivier said. It was not long before the alleged burglars were chased down and arrested as municipal law enforcement officers, PBCPA and Plett.Watch members acted quickly.
"After a meticulous search, the suspects were arrested and all the stolen goods were recovered."
The goods included clothing and electronic devices such as an e-book reader.
Olivier said the response was "exemplary" and the outcome "brilliant", adding that this is another example of how well cooperation between various security and emergency partners ensures a safer town.
Lisa Nagel from Plett.Watch, a local neighbourhood watch network, praised all stakeholders including the Plett.Watch team, PBCPA members, police, Smhart and Fidelity ADT security officers.
"Special mention must be made of Tubby Will [from Smhart] who pointed everyone in the right direction. Then, a big shout-out goes to the Fidelity ADT officer who assisted even though he was off duty," Nagel said.
Plettenberg Bay police confirmed the incident.
